A cherished care home, Lower Meadow, located in Stratford-Upon-Avon, recently marked a momentous occasion as one of their beloved residents, Gladys, reached the incredible milestone of 100 years on April 20th, 2024.

The celebration kicked off with Gladys enjoying a delightful meal with her family, followed by a jubilant gathering with fellow residents and staff members at Lower Meadow. The atmosphere was filled with joy as everyone came together to honour Gladys’s remarkable journey through life.

Gladys is known for her fondness for conversation, often found engaging with others while wearing her fleece jacket, accompanied by a cup of tea and a generous pack of biscuits for dipping. She thoroughly enjoyed her party, demonstrating her ability to still groove to the music while everyone serenaded her with the birthday song.

Rachel Walker, Home Manager at Lower Meadow, expressed her delight in making Gladys’s centennial celebration truly unforgettable. “Gladys is a lovely resident at Lower Meadow, so, to make her 100th birthday special was a priority for us. Our wellbeing lead, Norah, ensured she had the full works and celebrated her tremendous accomplishment in style! Gladys was so thrilled to receive cards from the children at The Wellcombe Hills school and of course, a special card from King Charles to congratulate her. The team really made her day extra special, and her smile spoke a thousand words.”

Pamela, Gladys’s daughter, expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much for making her birthday extra special. We appreciate all you do for her.”

Gladys’s 100th birthday celebration stands as a testament to the love and companionship shared within the Lower Meadow community, where every milestone is cherished and celebrated with utmost warmth and affection.
