Residents at Chelmunds Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a lively and heartwarming morning out as a group of gentlemen headed to their local bowling alley for some friendly competition and social time.
On Thursday 6th February, the group departed at 10:30am in the home’s minibus, ready for a few competitive rounds to see who would be crowned bowling champion. Three of the gentlemen attended alongside members of staff, and the outing quickly became filled with laughter and conversation.
The idea for the trip came from recognising that Chelmunds Court is home to mostly female residents. The team felt it would be meaningful to create an opportunity specifically for the men to spend quality time together, bond over a shared interest, and build closer friendships.
The atmosphere throughout the morning was upbeat and energetic, with residents chatting happily between turns while eagerly awaiting their next go. The competitive spirit added to the fun, but it was the camaraderie that truly made the day special.
A particularly touching moment came when one of the gentlemen shared that he used to love going bowling with his wife, and that the trip brought back many cherished memories.
The outing highlights Chelmunds Court’s ongoing commitment to creating meaningful, inclusive activities that support wellbeing, encourage social connection, and bring joy to residents’ everyday lives.
