Residents from Elizabeth House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a joyful and uplifting Church Choir Day on 17th September 2025, bringing together residents, staff, and sister homes for a memorable community event.

The day saw residents. accompanied by Wellbeing Lead, Karen, visit the local church for an afternoon of singing, dancing, and socialising. The event was filled with warmth and harmony, as residents joined others from the Runwood Homes Group to enjoy a beautiful service and engage in musical performances.

“The church was beautiful, and I loved singing and dancing with everyone,” said one resident, reflecting on the day with a smile.

Danielle, Receptionist at Elizabeth House, who also attended, commented:
“It was so joyous and full of singing, dancing, and happy smiles. It brought everyone together.”

One of the most touching moments came when Jo, one of the residents, got up to sing and dance. “Seeing Jo get up and start dancing and singing was truly heart-warming,” Danielle added.

The idea for the Church Choir Day was coordinated by the Runwood Homes Dementia Team at head office, with the aim of boosting morale, encouraging social interaction, and promoting the therapeutic benefits of music for residents living with dementia.

The social aspect of this event boosts residents’ mood and music can trigger memories and bring joy.  The homes coming together really promoted a sense of inclusion.

Events like these highlight Elizabeth House’s commitment to resident wellbeing, creating opportunities for meaningful connections and joyful experiences.
