Longview Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, had the privilege of hosting their local church choir on Tuesday 22nd April for an afternoon of hymns and singing. The event was held in the largest lounge, where residents, families, staff, and the choir gathered. The turnout was exceptional, with 36 attendees, marking the biggest crowd the choir has ever had at a care home.
The residents were engaged and uplifted by the visit. The church choir’s visit has become a cherished monthly tradition at Longview, with more residents joining in each time.
Resident Iris shared her experience: “I enjoyed going to the church choir today. I don’t always go to it but fancied it today and am glad I went, as it was really good.”
The atmosphere during the event was filled with joy and excitement, as residents and guests joined in the singing. A particularly moving moment occurred when a resident read a statement from the late Pope, just days after his passing. The room became silent as the words were shared, and many were visibly moved by the moment.
This monthly event provides an important opportunity for residents to practise their faith and connect with their community. The church choir visits Longview on the third Tuesday of every month, and the team is always thrilled to host such a meaningful and enriching experience for their residents.
Longview looks forward to many more choir visits and the continued sense of community they bring.
