Love, laughter, and music filled the air at Crowstone House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, as residents, relatives, and staff came together on 14th February for a heartwarming Valentine’s Party. The event, designed to foster connection and joy, was a huge success, leaving everyone with smiles and cherished memories.

Deputy Manager Maria, shared how special the celebration was for everyone involved. The home was beautifully decorated with handmade crafts, vibrant red balloons, and flowing red ribbons, setting the perfect romantic atmosphere for the day. Residents and staff embraced the spirit of the occasion, dressing in red and sharing in the festivities.

To make the day even more memorable, a live singer, Debbie, was invited to entertain the residents with classic love songs. She expressed her delight, saying, “I love coming to your home to sing for all of you! You’re always so happy to have a party filled with dancing and singing, which makes my work even more fun.” The joy was infectious, with residents singing along, dancing, and playing musical instruments throughout the afternoon. Resident Rachel had an especially wonderful time, sharing, “I enjoyed it so much! I’ve been dancing for more than an hour—my legs are aching, but it was worth it. It was a lovely party!”

No celebration is complete without delicious treats. A snack trolley made its way around, offering sweets, chocolates, cakes, wine, and lemonade. Each resident received a thoughtful red rose, a heart-shaped marshmallow on a stick, and a handmade Valentine’s card, adding a personal touch to the celebration.

Crowstone House’s Valentine’s event was about more than just fun. It brought significant benefits to residents by enhancing emotional well-being, making them feel valued and included. The celebration encouraged social interaction among residents, staff, and families, reducing feelings of loneliness. It also promoted physical activity through dancing and movement, stimulated cognitive function with music, singing, and creative activities, and strengthened the sense of community within the care home. The event helped boost self-esteem and personal expression as residents dressed up and took part in the festivities, and it created lasting memories for both residents and their loved ones.

The idea for the event stemmed from Crowstone House’s annual Valentine’s tradition, but this year, the addition of a live singer made it even more special. The atmosphere was truly magical, with residents reminiscing about past Valentine’s Days and sharing their stories with loved ones. One of the most touching highlights was witnessing the sense of togetherness, as staff, families, and residents held hands, twirled on the dance floor, and shared heartfelt moments of joy.

Crowstone House continues to prioritise meaningful celebrations, ensuring that residents not only receive exceptional care but also experience the warmth, love, and community spirit that make life truly special.
