Day Trip to Dunstable Downs Brings Joy to Residents at Mulberry Court

Residents and staff from Mulberry Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently gathered for a day of fresh air, sunshine, and memorable moments at Dunstable Downs.

The trip provided an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the stunning scenery and the rejuvenating effects of nature. With the bright skies and rolling hills as a backdrop, the group indulged in ice creams, enjoyed flying kites, and topped off the day with a traditional fish and chips meal on the way back.

Residents were deeply engaged in the outing, and the fresh air and physical activity provided positive emotional, physical, and mental benefits. Staff members played an active role in ensuring the day was filled with joy and relaxation.

Feedback from the community and residents was overwhelmingly positive. Nina, a family member, praised the event, commenting, “Lovely day to fly a kite, and I’m pleased to see that Mum got a bit of Vitamin D.”

Resident Iris added, “It’s quite nice to come out and enjoy the fresh air. I used to come here with my husband. Being here today reminds me of those special times we spent together.”

This event is a testament to the importance of getting out into nature to promote well-being. Whether it’s the positive effects of fresh air or simply the pleasure of being in good company, outings like these play a vital role in reducing stress, lifting moods, and stimulating the senses of the residents.

Staff at Mulberry Court worked closely to organise the event, ensuring that everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience. The atmosphere at Dunstable Downs was light-hearted and cheerful, with plenty of smiles, laughter, and a shared sense of camaraderie.

A highlight of the trip was the challenging yet fun kite-flying activity. Despite the unusually low wind, the residents and staff teamed up to try various techniques to get the kites into the sky, adding an element of fun and teamwork to the day.

This outing is just one example of how Mulberry Court continually prioritises the well-being of its residents, creating opportunities for them to enjoy meaningful experiences and build lasting memories.
