Residents from Elizabeth House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, embraced the great outdoors in the beautiful Westwood Forest.
The outing, which was inspired by a group of residents who wanted to go for a ramble, was a pleasurable experience for all. They enjoyed the scenic views of the tall trees, listened to the birds sing, and appreciated the peaceful ambience of nature.
Karen, who is a Team Member at Elizabeth House, felt the forest’s natural beauty and variety of sounds would create a great sensory experience for the residents.
Valerie, a resident of Elizabeth House, shared that she loved to go on walks and hikes before she went to the care home and going out rambling helps her to enjoy walking and getting her weekly exercise.
Danielle who also accompanied the group added “it was such a positive day with everyone talking about all the different things they could hear and see, which also encourages them to bond and create meaningful interactions”.
The outing was more than just a walk in the woods, it was an opportunity to support residents’ physical and emotional well-being, offering gentle exercise, fresh air, and a pleasurable moment.
At Elizabeth House, events like these serve as a beautiful reminder of the value in honouring and nurturing residents’ interests and prioritising their comfort every day.
