Residents at Park View Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were delighted by a very special visit on the morning of Thursday 5th June, when five adorable pygmy goats arrived at the home for an unforgettable animal therapy session.

Organised by lifestyle coordinator Diane Anderson, the idea for the visit came directly from a residents’ meeting, where the group expressed a shared desire to welcome animals into the home. The result was a calming and heartwarming experience that brought joy and laughter to all who took part.

Residents had the opportunity to hold and stroke the goats, with many even suggesting charming names for each animal. A particular highlight was the inclusion of residents who remain in their rooms, as the goats were brought directly to visit them too, ensuring no one missed out.

The event was enjoyed by both residents and staff, as well as visiting family members, who all appreciated the unique and uplifting experience.

The goal of the visit was to ‘bring the outside in,’ and judging by the smiles, laughter, and sense of peace the goats brought, it was a resounding success. Plans are already underway for a follow-up trip to the farm where the goats live, allowing residents to reconnect with their new furry friends.

Park View continues to be committed to enriching the lives of its residents through engaging and meaningful activities that spark connection, conversation, and joy.
