Residents and staff at Frank Foster House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, are rallying behind their Home Manager, Nicolas, as he takes on the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise funds for Independent Age. Nicolas is no stranger to the event—this will be his fourth time running in support of the charity.
Nicolas first discovered Independent Age while participating in a previous half marathon and was inspired by their work supporting older people in need. “Independent Age is an incredible charity that provides vital support to older people, offering advice, companionship, and assistance to help them maintain independence,” Nicolas said. “Working in a care home, I see firsthand how important these services are.”
Training for the event has been a rewarding experience for Nicolas, made even more special by the support of his team and the residents at Frank Foster House. “Everyone has been so encouraging, from colleagues to the residents themselves. Their enthusiasm keeps me motivated,” he shared.
Having previously taken part in fundraising efforts, Nicolas is committed to making a difference for older people who rely on Independent Age’s services. “It’s an honour to run for such a great cause,” he said. “Every donation helps to improve the lives of older people, ensuring they receive the support and companionship they need.”
As race day approaches, Nicolas is calling on the community to contribute to his fundraising efforts. “I’d love for people to get involved and support Independent Age,” he said. “Together, we can make a real impact on the lives of older people.”
