Residents at Jubilee Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group took part in a special knitting project to support premature babies in local hospitals on the 16th of October. Residents, alongside Deborah Mills, the Lifestyle Coordinator, worked together to create small knitted hats for babies in need at the maternity unit of City Hospital, Hucknall Road, Nottingham.
The project offered residents a meaningful way to engage their creativity while giving back to the community. Each resident was involved in choosing the colours and sizes of the hats, ensuring that each one was made with care. As they knitted, there were plenty of opportunities for the group to chat and enjoy each other’s company, creating a warm, supportive environment at Jubilee Court.
Once the hats were completed, it was a moment of pride for the residents as they personally delivered them to City Hospital. The staff at the maternity unit were delighted to receive the hats, and the residents of Jubilee Court felt a deep sense of satisfaction knowing that their efforts would make a difference to the newborns in need.
Deborah Mills, Lifestyle Coordinator at Jubilee Court, shared: “It was incredibly rewarding for everyone at Jubilee Court to be involved in such a meaningful project. Brenda, one of our residents, was particularly excited about delivering the hats in person. It was wonderful for all of us to contribute to such an important cause.”
The residents of Jubilee Court were filled with joy and pride as they saw the direct impact of their kind gesture. The experience has left a lasting impression on everyone involved, reinforcing the strong sense of community and care.
