Residents at Jubilee Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, have been overwhelmed by an outpouring of kindness after launching a heartfelt Valentine’s Day initiative to connect with their local community.

The idea began during a group chat with residents, when they suggested writing letters to local community members asking if they would kindly send Valentine’s Day cards to spread love and good wishes. As part of a weekly activity at Jubilee Court, residents and staff came together to put the plan into action.

“We started writing the letters a week ago,” said Deborah, Lifestyle Coordinator at Jubilee Court. “Half of our residents joined in. We collected paper, stamps and envelopes, and wrote to members of our community asking if they would be kind enough to send a Valentine’s Day card to our residents. Our letters were posted on Friday the 6th, and today, the 13th of February, we’ve been sharing the wonderful response.”

The initiative involved residents, staff and members of the wider community, as well as friends and local families. The response has been heartwarming, with a growing number of cards arriving each day, many featuring touching messages from children and the local community.

For many residents, particularly those without close family nearby, the gesture has made a meaningful difference. Beyond celebrating Valentine’s Day, the project has helped build relationships, strengthen trust and create a stronger sense of connection within the community.

Jubilee Court would like to thank everyone in the community who has taken the time to send cards and messages, helping to make this Valentine’s Day a truly special and memorable occasion for its residents.3ddf26ea 4b36 4a56 b8b4 14092936db8f
