Staff and members of the local community from Jubilee Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, took part in a sponsored walk from Jubilee Court to Newstead Abbey to raise funds for Cancer Research, collecting an impressive £400 in support of the cause.
Staff from various departments at Jubilee Court joined in with this inspiring initiative, and they were also joined by a local gentleman named John and Lacey, a young student from Holgate School. The group – along with their beloved dogs – set off on a scenic walk under sunny skies, enjoying not only the companionship but also the shared sense of purpose.
Deborah Mills, Jubilee Court‘s lifestyle coordinator, explained the reasoning behind the walk, commenting, “Family members, friends and loved ones have lost their lives to cancer, so we thought it would be good to help others fighting cancer.”
The walk was filled with positive energy and community spirit. The dogs all got along well, and upon arrival at Newstead Abbey, the group enjoyed a relaxed picnic before making their way back to Jubilee Court.
A special highlight of the event will take place on Friday 13th June, when the team visits Haywood House to present the donation to Michelle, the Senior Community Fundraising Manager for Cancer Research.
The fundraiser not only contributed vital funds but also raised awareness of the importance of continued support for cancer research, which plays a key role in improving diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for so many.
