Residents at Brewster House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were delighted to receive a generous donation of beautiful daffodils from Tesco Maldon on 24 February 2026.
The thoughtful gift, delivered as a surprise by Community Champion Rhiain as part of the FaNs Network partnership, brought an immediate splash of colour and joy to the home. The team and residents spent time together arranging the vibrant yellow blooms into vases, which were then placed throughout the dining rooms and tearoom, instantly brightening the spaces after a spell of gloomy weather.
Sylvia, Resident at Brewster House, shared her appreciation:
“How lovely to be given such lovely flowers, they really brighten the day up.”
Other residents echoed Sylvia’s sentiments, commenting on how the flowers have truly lifted everyone’s spirits and brought a sense of warmth and cheer to the home. The bright daffodils not only filled the rooms with a fresh, uplifting scent but also sparked memories. Residents fondly reminisced about picking daffodils from their gardens for their mothers and watching the first blooms of spring emerge year after year.
A particularly touching moment came when Sylvia recalled planting rows of daffodils in her own garden and eagerly waiting for them to bloom, remembering how neighbours would complement her on how lovely they looked.
This kind gesture highlights the importance of community connections. By supporting local care homes through initiatives such as the FaNs Network, Tesco Maldon continues to make a meaningful difference. The donation has not only brightened the home physically but has also brought smiles and conversation to residents.
Brewster House extends its sincere thanks to Tesco Maldon for their continued support and generosity.
