Residents from several of our local care homes enjoyed a magical morning of music, laughter and festive celebration at the “Connecting Through Carols” event held on Thursday 11th December at St Mary the Virgin Church in Benfleet.
More than 70 residents attended the joyful gathering, supported by dedicated minibus drivers, care teams, and wellbeing staff who ensured everyone could take part in the festivities.
The event, compered by Catherine Ranson and led by award-winning choirmaster Catherine Sahadevan, was filled with Christmas spirit from start to finish. Residents joined in traditional carol singing, lively party Christmas songs, and took part in a specially organised Christmas quiz that sparked friendly competition and plenty of smiles. The church minister also gave a short festive blessing, adding a warm and thoughtful touch to the morning.
Adding to the excitement, residents were delighted by surprise appearances from Father Christmas and even an inflatable Christmas tree, which brought plenty of laughter and photo opportunities.
A special thank you goes to Sarah Sanders, Business Development Director, whose brilliant idea inspired the “Connecting Through Carols” event. Sarah attended alongside Gordon Sanders, CEO, joining residents and staff for the festivities and taking time to speak personally with attendees.
To round off the morning, residents enjoyed a delicious lunch served in the church, offering further time for connection, conversation, and community spirit.
“Connecting Through Carols” was a heart-warming success, bringing together residents, staff, and community partners in a celebration of music, joy, and togetherness at this special time of year.
