Longview Care Home Christmas Fete Draws a Crowd and Brings Holiday Cheer

Longview Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, hosted a festive and heartwarming Christmas fete on the 1st December that brought the community together in a spectacular celebration of the holiday season.

The event transformed the care home’s dining room into a bustling marketplace filled with stallholders from the local area. Guests explored a wide variety of crafts, beauty products, sweet treats, and jewellery, making the fete a lively and engaging event. The turnout exceeded expectations, with visitors including residents, staff, family members, and members of the local community based in Canvey Island. At one point, the queue of attendees stretched out the door, reflecting the event’s immense popularity.

Children were particularly enchanted by Santa’s grotto and entertained by the mischievous antics of the “naughty Grinch,” creating unforgettable moments for families in attendance.

A festive menu added to the joy of the day, with attendees enjoying hot turkey rolls filled with stuffing, pigs in blankets, and cranberry sauce. The delicious food was a crowd-pleaser and enhanced the celebratory atmosphere.

The event was also a meaningful opportunity for Longview’s residents to contribute. Doreen, a resident who volunteered at the tombola stall, expressed her pride in being part of the event.

“I really enjoyed helping to run the tombola stall at the Christmas fete, doing my bit on a special day felt great. I am so pleased it was such a successful day. I enjoyed seeing so many children and people attend from our community,” Doreen, a resident at Longview who helped on the tombola.

The Christmas fete demonstrated the power of community spirit, showcasing local talent, spreading holiday cheer, and raising significant funds to support the residents of Longview Care Home.

The team at Longview expressed their gratitude to everyone who participated in and supported the event, emphasising that it was a day to remember for all involved.
