Mulberry Court Care Home Commemorates VE Day with Heartfelt Tribute

Runwood Homes Mulberry Court Care Home proudly hosted a commemoration event on May 8, 2024, to honour Victory in Europe Day (VE Day). This event served as a poignant tribute to the resilience and sacrifices of the past. Seventy-nine years ago, on May 8th, 1945, Germany surrendered to the Allies, marking the end of World War II in Europe. To commemorate this historic occasion, millions of people across the country, including Runwood Homes group, participated in festivities such as bonfires, parades, and parties.

In acknowledgment of this significant anniversary, Mulberry Court adorned their premises with British flag bunting to evoke the spirit of VE Day. The day commenced with a symbolic activity where residents crafted paper planes reminiscent of the fighter planes from the war, eliciting joy and laughter from all participants. The event also featured a quiz with pictures related to World War II, sparking engaging conversations and nostalgic memories among residents.

The day concluded with a heartwarming sing-along session that fostered a profound sense of unity and camaraderie among residents, staff, and caregivers. The collaborative efforts of the Wellbeing Team and care team at Mulberry Court exemplified their unwavering dedication to the happiness and well-being of their residents. Through their meticulous planning and heartfelt execution, they successfully orchestrated a memorable VE Day celebration that brought comfort, joy, and a profound sense of community to all who attended.
