On Friday 13th June, residents and staff at Longview Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were delighted to welcome a very special four-legged guest, Murphie, a gentle Belgian Shepherd Mastiff cross, for an uplifting pet therapy session.

Murphie, who was rescued abroad before being adopted through Dogs Trust Basildon, was accompanied by her owner, Tom, and proved to be an instant hit with everyone she met.

Murphie was taken around the home to visit each resident in their rooms, ensuring no one missed out on the chance to meet her. The warm and friendly nature of the dog created a fun and comforting atmosphere, with smiles all around as residents spent time petting and chatting with her.

One resident, Yvonne, shared her joy: “What a lovely looking dog Murphie is. She is gorgeous and so friendly.”

A particular highlight of the visit was when residents had the chance to offer Murphie treats, creating lovely moments of interaction and connection.

Longview remains committed to providing enriching experiences that support the emotional and mental wellbeing of its residents and looks forward to more visits like Murphie’s in the months to come.
