At Laureate Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, friendships are at the heart of community life, and residents Betty and Connie are a shining example of the power of companionship at any age.
The two ladies formed a strong bond shortly after Connie and her husband, Derek, moved into Laureate Court. Following Derek’s recent passing, Betty has been a source of comfort and support for Connie, demonstrating that meaningful friendships can be made at any stage of life.
Reflecting on their friendship, Betty shared:
“Connie and I have a really good friendship. We’ve become very close and are there for each other every day. We both reminisced about going dancing at East Dene Club every Thursday and the fond memories we have of that time. It’s so nice to have a friend like Connie to spend time with and make more memories with.”
Connie added:
“When I first came to Laureate Court Betty was already here, we began chatting and sitting together and both of our families that visit regularly also began chatting and we all became good friends. Betty was there for me when I recently lost my husband and has been an amazing support for me, we both miss Derek dearly.”
Speaking on behalf of Laureate Court, Lisa, Senior Home Manager, said:
“Building friendships is so important. The friendship that these two ladies have built is wonderful to see, and we couldn’t be happier to have been part of this blossoming connection.”
This story is a beautiful reminder that friendship knows no age and community and compassion are at the heart of everything at Laureate Court.
