On 3rd February, six residents from Orchard Blythe Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, visited the RAF Museum Cosford for an educational trip exploring the rich history of the Royal Air Force. The group had the opportunity to see impressive exhibits, including planes, tanks, uniforms, and war stories.
Resident Alfred remarked, “I cannot believe how big the planes are!” while George, recalling his time at Cosford during national service, shared, “I was based here at Cosford when I was in my national service.” Lifestyle Coordinator Michelle noted, “It was lovely to see the residents so involved and enjoying the day out.” Resident Chrissy added, “My grandson is in the RAF, so this has been good to see.”
The residents enjoyed lively discussions throughout the day, sharing personal stories and connecting over the exhibits. The trip was suggested by the residents, who wanted to visit a museum, and the RAF Museum was chosen for its historical significance.
A highlight of the day was George reflecting on his national service, adding a personal touch to the experience. The outing was not only educational but also fostered connection and camaraderie among the residents.
The trip to the RAF Museum Cosford was a success, providing the residents with a meaningful and memorable day out. Orchard Blythe Care Home looks forward to more enriching experiences for their residents.
