Orchard Blythe Care Home, part of Runwood Homes Group, hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning, raising vital funds and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event featured a delightful cake sale and open coffee morning, with a tempting array of homemade cakes baked and donated by staff, residents, and friends of the home.
“It was a lovely turnout — the cakes were wonderful!” said Lesley Deakin, Senior Administrator at Orchard Blythe. “Thank you to all the staff involved and to everyone who supported us. It was fantastic to see our residents, families, and the local community, including members from the local church’s dementia café, all come together for such a worthy cause.”
The annual Macmillan Coffee Morning is a national event that encourages people across the UK to host gatherings to raise money for those affected by cancer. For Orchard Blythe, it was not only an opportunity to contribute to the cause but also a chance to open conversations around cancer awareness and the support available to those affected.
“This event is so important because it highlights the incredible work Macmillan does in research, treatment, and support,” Lesley added. “It helps create space for people to talk more openly about cancer, whether they’re living in the wider community or, like us, in a care home.”
The morning was a huge success, with a generous amount raised thanks to the enthusiasm and kindness of everyone involved. The team at Orchard Blythe expressed heartfelt gratitude for the local community’s ongoing support and engagement.
