Residents of Jubilee Court Enjoy Outings to Highfield Park and Reuben Shaw Garden Centre

On the 17th April 2024, residents of Jubilee Court care home in Hucknall embarked on a delightful outing to Highfield Park and Reuben Shaw Garden Centre, accompanied by the dedicated staff of our community. The outing, facilitated by our minibus, provided residents with an enriching opportunity to connect with nature, engage in social interactions, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Amongst the tranquil surroundings of Highfield Park, residents indulged in a leisurely picnic, soaking in the beauty of the outdoors and enjoying moments of peacefulness. The outing also included the heartwarming activity of feeding wildlife, with residents delighting in the company of birds and squirrels, fostering a sense of connection to the natural world.

Residents actively participate in the planning of such outings, expressing their preferences and desires for future trips. This involvement empowers them to shape their own experiences, enhancing feelings of independence and well-being.

Deborah, Wellbeing Lead at Jubilee Court, emphasised the importance of such outings in enriching residents’ lives. “From continuing their shopping routines to appreciating the beauty of their surroundings and meeting members of the community, these experiences contribute to their overall well-being and sense of belonging.”

Outings like these play a crucial role in combating feelings of loneliness and isolation among residents. Social interaction has been shown to improve memory and mental health, highlighting the invaluable benefits of community engagement and connection.

Jubilee Court remains committed to providing residents with meaningful experiences that enhance their quality of life and foster a sense of belonging. We extend our gratitude to the staff and volunteers who make such outings possible and look forward to many more enriching adventures in the future.
