Residents, families, and members of the local community gathered for a vibrant St. Patrick’s Day celebration at Rosedale Court Care Home, part of Runwood Homes Group. There was an unforgettable performance by The McGahan Lees Irish Dance Team, delicious Irish-themed snacks, and a lively atmosphere.
The event was organised by the Lifestyle Team, who transformed the home with colourful St. Patrick’s Day decorations. Residents and their families were treated to a delicious Irish Stew and Guinness lunch in the café before enjoying a wonderful performance by 12 members of The McGahan Lees Irish Dance Team in the lounge.
Louise Healy, Lifestyle Coordinator, shared the inspiration behind the event, stating that the Lifestyle Team wanted to create something truly special for St. Patrick’s Day at Rosedale Court. Many of the residents have Irish heritage, making it important to honour the occasion with authenticity and excitement. Through a mutual friend, she reached out to Cecily Brennan of The McGahan Lees Irish Dance Team, and everything fell into place perfectly.
The atmosphere throughout the day was intensely emotional. Residents and guests alike were captivated by the precision and energy of the dancers. The highlight of the afternoon was the moment when all 12 Irish dancers performed in perfect synchrony, leaving the audience in awe.
Residents were deeply moved by the experience, with Charlie Fink expressing that it brought tears to his eyes because it was so emotional to watch. Clifford Mason described it as breathtaking, while Patricia Hollington shared that she could watch them all day. Mary simply called it beautiful.
Members of the community were equally impressed. Maria Davies Merchant praised the great dancing and lovely afternoon, while Amy Smith called it a wonderful experience. Karen Parrish raved about the Irish Stew, describing it as fantastic, and Lisa Wright admired the dancers’ stunning outfits.
