Residents and staff at The Grange Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, have come together to support their local Dogs Trust through a special community initiative celebrating International Dog Day.
The home organised a collection of dog treats, toys, and food to help dogs in need within the local community. Posters and a decorated collection box were created to encourage donations, and the response was overwhelming, with contributions pouring in from residents, their families, and staff members alike.
“We have a lot of dog lovers here at The Grange,” said Catherine Sahadevan, Lifestyle Coordinator. “It was wonderful to see everyone come together to help dogs who need a little extra love and care. The Dogs Trust was so grateful for our efforts, and the highlight was definitely getting to meet some of the lovely dogs looking for their forever homes.”
The initiative was originally suggested by Kieun Kwon, Associate Director of Wellbeing and Dementia Services, who encouraged the team to take part in a charitable activity that would make a positive difference locally. On 9 October 2025, representatives from The Grange delivered the donations to the Dogs Trust, where they were warmly welcomed by staff and residents alike.
“The atmosphere was incredibly joyful,” added Catherine. “Many of us had never visited the Dogs Trust before, so it was a special experience to see the amazing work they do.”
This heartwarming effort reflects The Grange’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and giving back.
