Lifestyle Coordinator Leah and Leyla took on an icy challenge at Silvanna Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, yesterday, completing an Ice Bucket Challenge fundraiser to support the residents’ activity fund.
The duo prepared five buckets filled with ice and freezing cold water, which were then tipped over them outside as residents and staff watched with excitement. The event brought lots of laughter and cheers throughout the home.
Leah shared why the fundraiser was so important:
“We want to raise money so our residents can enjoy professional singers visiting the home and receive Christmas presents. Not all of our residents have friends, family, or money, so we want to make the season special for them.”
The challenge received warm and heartfelt reactions from those watching:
- “Thank you so much,” said Jan, a resident’s family member.
- “You girls are crazy!!! It’s so cold — how amazing you both are,” said Frankie, receptionist.
- “What lovely girls you are to do this for us,” added resident Gean.
The atmosphere was electric, with staff and residents eagerly cheering the pair on. One unforgettable moment was when the icy water hit, taking their breath away and sparking even louder applause.
This fun and meaningful event brought Silvanna Court together while raising funds that will help make Christmas brighter for the residents.
