Stafford Hall Care Home, part of Runwood Homes Group, was filled with warmth, gratitude, and celebration on 30th March 2026 as resident Maurice marked his remarkable 99th birthday surrounded by family, staff, and fellow residents.
The celebration was thoughtfully arranged by Maurice’s granddaughter, who organised a traditional meal of fish and chips along with birthday cake to make the occasion extra special.
After the birthday song, Maurice delivered moving speech that touched everyone present. Reflecting on his long life, he expressed heartfelt gratitude for his family, shared memories of loved ones, and spoke about the blessings he has experienced over his 99 years. He also offered a prayer for those around him, thanking God for love, support, and guidance.
Maurice said:
“I’d like to thank you all for coming and for bringing the love to this place. I give thanks for my lovely family—we are only a small family but we are blessed… In all my 99 years, I have had such a long, lovely life, and I thank Jesus for the blessings of my life… the Lord will be there for us all… Amen.”
The emotional impact of his words was felt throughout the room, with many attendees visibly moved. Maurice’s granddaughter described the speech as “the sweetest thing she’s ever heard,” capturing the sentiment shared by all present.
This celebration was not only a milestone birthday but also a meaningful moment of connection between Maurice and his family, as well as the wider Stafford Hall Care Home community.
