Rosedale Court care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, recently transported residents, families, and staff back to the 1920s with a spectacular Great Gatsby Speakeasy Afternoon on Saturday, 18th January 2025. The event was a dazzling celebration of music, dance, and vintage charm, immersing everyone in the spirit of the Roaring Twenties.
Organised by Lifestyle Coordinators, the afternoon featured live entertainment by Beverly Stone, a stunning buffet of canapés, and the much-loved Rosedale Court Speakeasy Bar, serving both classic and non-alcoholic cocktails. Residents and guests embraced the theme, donning 1920s headbands and revelling in the lively, nostalgic atmosphere.
“The power of music, singing, and dancing at Rosedale Court is something that travels through time,” said Louise Healy, Lifestyle Coordinator. “Every decade of music holds a special place in our residents’ hearts, and this event allowed them to relive memories, express creativity, and simply enjoy a day of fun.”
The afternoon was filled with unforgettable moments, from residents dancing with their families to the delight of discovering non-alcoholic gin and tonics at the Speak Easy Bar. The event was made even more special by the donation of an Art Deco drinks trolley and a handmade speakeasy sign crafted by Joan Smith, a resident’s family member.
The electric energy of the day was summed up perfectly by Charlie, a resident, who exclaimed, “That was an amazing day—can we please have the singer back again?”
Rosedale Court care home continues to create engaging, immersive experiences that bring residents, families, and staff together, proving that music and memories truly stand the test of time.
