Hearts, laughter, and the aroma of freshly baked treats filled Highview Day Centre, part of the Runwood Homes group on 13th February as service users and staff came together for a special Valentine’s Afternoon Tea. The event was full of creativity, delicious treats, and joyful moments for everyone involved.
Service users played a key role in the event, helping to make decorations and bake a variety of sweet treats that everyone enjoyed. A standout highlight was a delicious Biscoff cheesecake made by a staff member’s partner, which went down a treat with attendees.
Dannii Faux, Carer/Care Team Leader at Highview, said:
“Valentine’s Day at Highview isn’t just about celebrating love; it’s also about friendship, community, and creating meaningful moments for our service users. Events like these give everyone the chance to connect, engage, and share plenty of smiles.”
Service users also shared their delight. Jane said, “I absolutely loved my afternoon and thank all the staff for everything they do to make these occasions extra special. I especially enjoyed sharing the treats with everyone.” David added, “I had such a lovely day and want to thank the staff for putting on such a lovely afternoon. I’m already looking forward to the next one!”
The idea for the afternoon tea came directly from the service users, who wanted a relaxed, social gathering over delicious treats. Staff members Dannii, Shelley, and Pauline worked alongside the attendees to make the event personal and enjoyable for everyone.
