On 16th January, residents at The Grange Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, have started the New Year by giving back to the community, organising a heartfelt fundraiser to support children diagnosed with cancer. Partnering with Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund, the residents hosted a “Name the Bear” event to raise money for the charity.

The initiative began with a residents’ meeting where the idea of helping local children was proposed. Lifestyle Coordinator Catherine Sahadevan reached out to the Lennox Trust, which provided a teddy bear and a fifty-square guessing sheet for the fundraiser. Participants purchased squares, each representing a potential name for the bear, with all proceeds going to the charity.

Catherine explained the importance of the event: “It is important that the residents are involved in the community, and their wish to help was carried out. This was a wonderful way to connect with the local community and make a positive impact.”

The atmosphere during the event was described as lively and enjoyable, with residents enthusiastically engaging in the activity. The simple yet meaningful event highlighted the generosity of The Grange community and their commitment to supporting others.

The fundraiser not only raised money for Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund but also fostered a sense of purpose and fulfilment among the residents. One participant noted how meaningful it was to start the year with such a positive initiative.

The Grange Care Home continues to show its dedication to making a difference, proving that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
