Windmill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a truly memorable afternoon as Wild Encounters visited the home on 4 March 2026, bringing with them five different animals as part of the home’s Dignity Theme Month: All Creatures Great and Small.

The visit was arranged to give residents the opportunity to interact with a variety of animals, ranging from insects to mammals, an experience that proved both engaging and uplifting for everyone involved. Residents, families, and staff gathered to enjoy the event, creating a shared moment filled with smiles, laughter, and excitement.

The atmosphere during the event was described as magical, bringing everyone together through shared experiences and laughter. Residents were delighted to meet the animals up close, with many enjoying gentle interactions and cuddles.

Family members and visitors shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, including comments such as:

“How very lovely! That stick insect is amazing.”
“Wow! What an amazing afternoon, another busy day at Windmill House.”
“Wow, thank you for arranging such an amazing event for the residents.”

A standout highlight of the day was meeting the skunk, whose calm nature and affection for cuddles quickly won everyone over and left a lasting impression.

Windmill House continues to provide meaningful, enriching experiences that support dignity, wellbeing, and connection, creating joyful moments for residents and their loved ones.
