Woodbury Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, was delighted to make one resident’s heartfelt wish come true with a special ice-skating trip on 9 February 2026.

Barbara, a resident at the home, had shared her wish to go ice skating once more through Woodbury Court’s dedicated “Wishing Tree” initiative, where residents are encouraged to pledge personal wishes and experiences they would like to revisit. Determined to turn her wish into reality, the team arranged a memorable outing to the ice rink.

Joined by fellow residents George, Robert and Fernanda, and supported by staff members Kristina and Carley, Barbara returned to the ice with a huge smile. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy as she soaked up every moment of being back in a place that held so many treasured memories.

Reflecting on the day, Barbara said:
“I can remember taking my girls ice skating when they were younger, and this has brought back so many magical memories.”

The special outing was rounded off with a lovely lunch, giving residents time to relax, chat and reflect on a day filled with laughter, nostalgia and happiness.

Mel, Home Manager at Woodbury Court, commented:
“It’s important for us to capture our residents’ wishes and work on making them come true to the best of our ability. Seeing Barbara back on the ice with a smile on her face was incredibly heart-warming. Creating meaningful experiences and special moments for our residents remains at the heart of everything we do.”

The ice-skating trip highlights Woodbury Court’s ongoing commitment to person-centred care and ensuring residents continue to enjoy fulfilling, joyful experiences that celebrate their lives, memories and aspirations.BARBARA Manager Woodbury
