In a heartwarming moment across the Runwood Homes group, Ivy Court resident Michael surprised his daughter, Joanne, as she crossed the finish line of the Trek26 Walk for the Alzheimer’s Society on the 25th of May. Joanne completed the gruelling 26-mile trek in Whitby, raising substantial funds for a cause deeply personal to her.
The staff and residents at Ivy Court prepared the surprise, arranging for Michael to be driven from Doncaster to Whitby to greet his daughter at the finish line. This touching reunion highlighted the power of family and community support in the ongoing battle against Alzheimer’s disease.
Stacey Dean, Home Manager at Ivy Court, shared the emotional impact of the event. “When we learned about Joanne’s commitment to completing the Trek26 Walk, we felt compelled to support her. Alzheimer’s affects many of our residents and their families, making it a cause very close to our hearts. We decided to surprise Joanne by bringing her beloved dad, Michael, to the finish line. Witnessing Joanne’s joy upon seeing her dad was incredibly moving. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishment and the vital funds she has raised for such an important cause.”
Joanne’s extraordinary effort in the Trek26 Walk not only reflects her personal dedication to the Alzheimer’s Society but also underscores the broader community’s solidarity and support. The funds she raised will aid crucial research and support services, significantly impacting the lives of those affected by Alzheimer’s.
