Crowstone House Hosts Unforgettable Ladies Day at Chelmsford Race Course

Crowstone House, a distinguished residential care home and part of the Runwood Homes group, recently organised a special event aimed at providing a day of joy and connection for the daughters of its residents amidst a challenging period.

On 20th of June, ten daughters of Crowstone House residents enjoyed an unforgettable Ladies Day at Chelmsford Race Course. This annual event, renowned for its elegance and excitement, offered the perfect setting for the ladies to dress up, socialise over lunch and drinks, and engage in the thrill of horse racing with friendly bets.

The highlight of the day included a captivating performance by Beverly Knight, followed by Denise Van Outen’s lively DJ set, ensuring the atmosphere remained vibrant and celebratory throughout.

Julie Barnard, the Wellbeing Lead at Crowstone House, initiated the event after recognising the profound impact of the loss on the relatives of two residents who passed away in December 2023. Julie, known for her close relationships with the residents’ families, sought to create an opportunity that would provide comfort and connection during a difficult time.

“I wanted to offer our residents’ daughters a chance to come together in a positive and enjoyable environment,” Julie explained. “Ladies Day at Chelmsford Race Course seemed like the perfect choice. It not only provided a day of fun and entertainment but also fostered new friendships among the attendees.”

The day was meticulously planned, beginning with a morning pick-up from Crowstone House by Gus, the dedicated minibus driver, and concluding with a comfortable return after the eventful day. Joseph, Crowstone House’s manager, captured the essence of the day through a series of photographs that captured the joy and camaraderie among the participants.

Reflecting on the event, Joseph remarked, “It was immensely gratifying to witness the smiles and enjoyment on their faces throughout the day. This event truly meant a lot to them.”

Participants were effusive in their praise for Julie and the organising team, expressing deep gratitude for creating such a memorable experience. “Thank you so much for arranging this day,” said one participant. “It has been absolutely perfect, and we appreciate everything you have done.”

For Julie Barnard and the team at Crowstone House, the success of this event underscored their commitment not only to the wellbeing of their residents but also to nurturing a supportive community that extends to their relatives.
