Colchester United Visits Local Care Home, Loganberry Lodge, for Pumpkin Carving Fun

On the afternoon of the 29th of October, Loganberry Lodge care home, part of the Runwood Homes group was filled with excitement as they welcomed the Colchester United Under 21s football team. The young athletes engaged with residents in a delightful pumpkin carving activity that soon turned into a friendly competition, bringing smiles and laughter to all.

Residents eagerly participated in the event, showcasing their creativity while bonding with the players. One resident expressed his joy, stating, “It was lovely to meet the young men; it took me back to when I was younger.” The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with camaraderie and joy, highlighting the significance of such community connections.

This visit followed last year’s successful Halloween event, where Colchester United and Loganberry Lodge residents enjoyed a thrilling game of spooky bingo. The continued partnership exemplifies the commitment of both the football club and the care home to foster meaningful interactions between generations.

Charley Barnard, a member of Loganberry Lodge’s Lifestyle Team, emphasised the importance of these connections, saying, “Links like this with the community are so important to our residents’ wellbeing and play a huge role in reducing feelings of isolation within care homes.”

Loganberry Lodge expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Colchester United for their ongoing support and looks forward to welcoming them back for future events.
