Residents, staff, and families at Windmill House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group, embraced the Halloween season by participating in their town’s Scarycrow Trail. This community-wide event, held from 25th October to 3rd November 2024, brought together creative scarecrow displays, downloadable maps, and a shared sense of seasonal fun.
Residents at Windmill House enthusiastically helped to craft their own scarecrow, which was proudly added to the town’s display map. Using the map, residents enjoyed a minibus trip to visit other scarecrows across the town, taking in the creative efforts of the local community while connecting with others.
The celebration didn’t stop there, Windmill House hosted a Trick-or-Treat evening, welcoming children, families, and community members to enjoy the seasonal festivities. The home was decorated with illuminated pumpkin displays and handcrafted tea-light jars, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Visiting children received treat bags, while residents joined in the fun with hot chocolate, marshmallows, and a lively reception party featuring a mobile bar.
This event was truly a collaborative effort, involving residents, staff, relatives, and the wider public. It brought joy to everyone involved and showcased the importance of community involvement and seasonal traditions for residents.
Maria, the Home Manager at Windmill House, commented “This was a wonderful community collaboration that brought together residents, staff, families and the local community.”
Windmill House’s participation in the Scarycrow Trail highlights its dedication to creating meaningful experiences for residents and fostering connections within the wider community. Events like these play a vital role in enhancing residents’ engagement and well-being, while celebrating the seasons with fun and creativity.
