Longview Residents Enjoy a Scenic Day Out at the Seaside

Longview Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, residents recently enjoyed a refreshing day out at the seaside, taking in the fresh air and indulging in a delicious meal. On the 20th of February, a group of residents travelled by minibus to Rossi’s for coffee by the beach before heading to James’ Restaurant for a traditional fish and chips lunch.

Jessica, the Lifestyle Coordinator at Longview, highlighted the importance of outings like these, emphasising that regular trips help residents feel connected to the wider community.

Resident Bill shared his enjoyment of the day, saying, “I really enjoyed going out today. It’s nice to get some fresh air by the seaside. The lunch was lovely—fish and chips are my favourite!”

The trip was organised by the Lifestyle team at Longview Care Home, with support from their minibus driver, Gus. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the outing, creating a warm and sociable atmosphere. It was also a great opportunity for newer residents to integrate, as they engaged in lively conversations and built connections throughout the day. A particularly memorable moment was when the group sipped hot drinks while taking in the beautiful seaside views.

The idea for the trip stemmed from the growing popularity of James’ Restaurant among sister care homes in the area. Following positive feedback from residents, Longview staff are keen to organise similar outings in the future, ensuring residents continue to experience enriching community-based activities.
