Staff and Residents Embrace New Dementia Support Guide at Training Session

On Tuesday 27th May, staff and residents at Longview Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, came together for a valuable training session led by the group’s Head of Dementia Care, Katherine Imossi. The session introduced the new .COM guide—Connect, Observe & Report, Make Smiles—which aims to support deeper, more meaningful connections with individuals living with dementia.

Living with dementia can often feel isolating, even in the presence of others. The .COM guide offers practical strategies to help care teams build trust, foster communication, and bring daily joy to the lives of residents. The peaceful and reflective atmosphere during the training allowed participants to fully engage with the materials and understand the significance of emotional connection in care.

Unit Manager Chloe praised the training, sharing, “I found it very insightful. I think it will be very beneficial to the residents as well as the staff to build good relationships in our home.”

The training reflects Longview’s ongoing commitment to staff development and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
