On Tuesday 17th June, Orchard Blythe Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, was filled with the spirit of the Wild West as residents, staff, families, and friends came together for a fun-filled Western Theme Day. The home was buzzing with excitement, music, and cowboy charm from start to finish.
The event saw everyone dress in their best Western wear, from cowboy hats to boots and bandanas, with the home fully decorated to match. Thanks to generous prop donations, including saddles and themed décor, Orchard Blythe was truly transformed into a Western wonderland.
The day began with a hearty Western-style lunch before a live singer brought the house down with music that had everyone up on their feet. Residents and guests enjoyed classic activities such as line dancing, “Pin the Hat on the Cowboy,” gold panning, and a Tin Can Alley shooting game, all guaranteed to bring big smiles and plenty of laughter.
Residents and family members expressed how much they enjoyed the day, while for staff, the greatest highlight was witnessing the residents’ happiness throughout the event.
The idea for the Western Theme Day came from the home’s activity suggestion box, with contributions from both staff and residents. It was a true team effort, and the atmosphere on the day reflected that, with laughter, music, and shared joy filling every corner of the home.
Orchard Blythe continues to be a place where meaningful moments, community spirit, and resident wellbeing come first, and this Western Day was a perfect example of that.
