The Mill House Care Home part of the Runwood Homes Group,  brought a taste of the tropics to residents with a vibrant Hawaiian-themed tea trolley afternoon. The immersive experience was designed to ensure every resident, including those in their rooms, could take part in the festivities.

The team at The Mill House created a tropical escape complete with Hawaiian music, colourful garlands, grass skirts, and a beautifully decorated tea trolley.

Residents were treated to fruit punch, fresh tropical fruits, and a homemade coconut cake, lovingly baked and decorated by the residents themselves. Hawaiian music filled the home as many joined in with dance moves and enjoyed the festive atmosphere.Hawaii3 Wellbeing Mill House jpg e1751987458652

Emma Binks commented:

“This event was about inclusion, joy, and celebrating different cultures. It was wonderful to see everyone smiling and joining in, the happiness was contagious.”

Resident reactions were overwhelmingly positive:

“This is lovely, what a treat!”
“I love the outfits and music!”

Relatives also praised the event, sharing comments like:

“What a fun idea!”
“The trolley looked beautiful”

The afternoon inspired plans for monthly themed tea trolley events, giving residents ongoing opportunities to explore the world through food, music, and creativity.

The highlight of the day was seeing residents dressing up and trying out hula dancing.
