On Wednesday 23rd July, residents, staff, and relatives from Alexandra House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a day out at Hunters Meet, where they were treated to an afternoon cabaret filled with delicious food, music, and laughter.
The event was organised following a special request from residents for a fun-filled afternoon away from the home. The group enjoyed a two-course meal followed by lively entertainment, creating a joyful and uplifting atmosphere.
The response from those who attended was overwhelmingly positive. One resident shared, “This was the best day I have had in such a long time,” while another added, “This is my first trip out this year and I’m so glad I came along.”
Members of the public also expressed admiration for the care and happiness shared during the afternoon. One onlooker said, “When I get older, I want you all to look after me as I see how happy you made your residents today.”
A standout moment of the day was when passersby stopped to greet Alexandra House’s eldest resident, Ada, who will be celebrating her 105th birthday next month.
It was a truly special day that showcased the importance of meaningful experiences and community engagement for residents. Alexandra House was proud to see so many smiles and receive such warm praise from the public – a true testament to the dedication of the home’s staff and the spirit of its residents.
