Residents from Rosedale Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, enjoyed a refreshing day trip to Summerhill Nursery. They were joined by family member Jim, husband of resident Maureen Thompson.

The group spent the day exploring the nursery, admiring the vibrant flowers, unique statues, and colourful aquarium fish. Residents also enjoyed browsing the Christmas decorations that were already on display. Many took the chance to shop for keepsakes, including resident June Roach, who was delighted to purchase an artificial waterlily to brighten her room.

Lunch was shared at L’Oliveta Café, where staff warmly greeted the group.

The residents shared their own reflections:

Faye Sealy said:

“I’ve had the best day and loved seeing all the flowers and fish. I even tried Coca Cola again after years and I love it!”

Mike Moore also commented: “It’s been a wonderful day, thank you for taking me. The ham, egg, and chips were amazing too.”

The trip provided plenty of opportunities for fresh air, gentle walking, and reminiscing about personal gardens, all within a relaxing and calm setting. The day ended on a sweet note with an ice cream on the way home.

Louise Healy, Lifestyle Lead at Rosedale Court, said:
“Our residents often talk fondly about their gardens, so visiting places like Summerhill Nursery is really special. It allows them to enjoy the colours and fragrances of plants, spend time in the community, and share a lovely meal together. It’s about keeping those connections to everyday life alive.”

Highlights of the day included the beautifully decorated displays for Christmas and the much-enjoyed jacket potatoes at L’Oliveta Café.
