Norwich City Legend Darren Huckerby Delights Residents at Mill House Care Home

Residents at The Mill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, were treated to a very special visit, as former Norwich City footballer and current club ambassador, Darren Huckerby, spent the afternoon meeting with residents, families, and staff.

During his time at the home, Darren generously handed out signed copies of his autobiography, chatted with residents about his footballing career, and even joined in singing the beloved Norwich City FC anthem, “On the Ball, City.”

Both staff and residents look forward to reading the book and are grateful to have a signed copy.

The visit sparked fond memories for many residents, with one sharing:

“I used to go to Norwich City football matches, and this has brought back some wonderful memories.”

Another added:

“I wasn’t expecting Darren to have so much time to stay and chat with me today. What a lovely thing to do – it’s brought a smile to my face.”

A particularly special moment came when one resident proudly sang “On the Ball, City” alongside Darren – a definite highlight of the day.

The visit aimed to support community connection, reminiscence, and local engagement. While the event naturally appealed to football fans, it also served as a heart-warming social occasion for all involved, fostering conversation and laughter.

Everyone at Silvanna Court is incredibly grateful to Tom, a carer at The Mill House Care Home, for making the day happen and of course to  Darren and NCFC for making this visit possible.

The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was joyful and lively – filled with smiles, stories, and shared memories of football and friendship.
