The Mill House Care Home part of the Runwood Homes Group, transformed its dining room into a slice of Italy, complete with themed décor, music, and a delicious selection of Italian dishes. Residents joined Emma in preparing homemade pizzas with a variety of toppings, while Karen, the home’s chef, prepared freshly made lasagne and a much-loved tiramisu. Italian beer and a taste of Limoncello added an authentic touch to the evening.
Residents praised the event, saying:
“We loved the outfits, Emma dressed as a pizza and Karen wore an Italian football shirt with an Italian flag apron!”
“The food tasted great, and I really enjoyed the tiramisu.”
“What a fun evening together.”
The event was brought to life by a collaborative team effort involving Emma, Chef Karen, Home Manager at The Mill House, Sam, care staff, and of course, the residents themselves. The team even designed and printed their own posters and menus to enhance the experience.
Emma shared that The Mill House, has recently begun hosting monthly themed evenings to celebrate different cultures, broaden culinary experiences, and create meaningful opportunities for residents to enjoy shared moments of joy and connection. “These events bring people together and help us appreciate the richness of different cultures,” she said.
The Mill House, looks forward to continuing these cultural celebrations in the months ahead.
