St Michael’s Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Groups, embraced the festive season with a wide range of Christmas activities, creating memorable experiences for residents and their loved ones throughout December.
Among the many festive events, one initiative stood out as particularly meaningful: weekly shopping trips to a large Tesco store in Norwich. These outings gave residents the opportunity to choose Christmas gifts and cards for their loved ones, or simply treat themselves, helping them feel independent, involved and connected to familiar traditions.
Following the shopping trips, residents, families and friends were invited to enjoy a festive meal together at the Racecourse Castle Carvery. The gatherings were warmly received and quickly became a highlight of the season, offering valuable time for residents to socialise and celebrate Christmas alongside those closest to them.
These outings took place over four consecutive weeks in December, allowing many different residents to take part. Families and friends praised the initiative, describing it as a thoughtful and heartfelt idea that made their loved ones feel as though they were celebrating Christmas just as they would at home.
Relatives shared how special it was to enjoy everyday family experiences together, and many expressed that the outings truly made their Christmas, creating lasting memories and reinforcing the importance of togetherness during the festive season.
St Michael’s Court Care Home remains committed to providing meaningful, person-centred experiences that support residents’ wellbeing and strengthen connections with families and the wider community.
