Sally and Ray, residents of Ivy Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, had their love story begin with a twist of fate and a missed meeting, leading to a lifetime of happiness together. Their journey began in 1955 in a village when Sally was just 16.
Ray went to the local village hall to meet another young woman, but she never arrived. Rather than heading home, Ray struck up a conversation with Sally instead. What began as a simple chat soon turned into something special, and the pair decided to go for a bike ride together. That spontaneous moment marked the beginning of a love story that would stand the test of time.
The years that followed saw Sally and Ray build a life together filled with love and laughter. Today, they continue their journey side by side as residents at Ivy Court Care Home, where they live together, still happily married after all these years.
This heartwarming story is being shared as part of Runwood Homes’ company-wide initiative, Valentine’s Takeover at Runwood Homes – a special week dedicated to celebrating love in all its forms, from friendship and companionship to kindness and care across Runwood Homes communities.
