Residents at Rosedale Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, were delighted to welcome special young visitors from The Grove Infant School, Harpenden for a heartwarming intergenerational day filled with fun, laughter and meaningful connection.

The visit saw siblings, from age 2 to 7, spend quality time with residents, taking part in a range of engaging activities. The children chatted with residents, baked delicious cookies together, enjoyed lunch in the café, and even helped push resident Bobby around in his wheelchair, a moment that sparked smiles all around.

The idea for the visit came after two of them had previously visited Rosedale Court last year. Their mother, Victoria, contacted the Lifestyle Team to arrange another visit, this time including two-year-old Harvey, after seeing first-hand the positive impact it had on both residents and her own children.

Residents were quick to share their enjoyment of the day:

  • Lillian and Jean said, “It’s been lovely to have the girls in again to see us and Isabelle remembered how to do a hair plait that we showed her last time.”
  • Norman added, “Little Harvey likes building like me.”
  • Cliff shared, “It’s been lovely to cook with the children.”
  • Bobby summed up the day perfectly, saying simply, “Fun, fun, fun!”

The children were equally enthusiastic:

  • Elodie and Isabelle said, “We love coming to see everyone. And we think Bobby is so funny!”
  • Elodie added, “The omelette for lunch was yummy and better than the ones at school.”

Victoria praised the home, saying:

“What a lovely home you have at Rosedale Court and the children absolutely love to visit. It is so good for the children to spend time with the residents.”

Intergenerational visits such as these continue to play an important role at Rosedale Court, strengthening community connections and bringing warmth and companionship to all involved.IMG 2404 Wellbeing Rosedale IMG 2457 Wellbeing Rosedale IMG 2468 Wellbeing Rosedale
