Residents from Greenbanks Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, enjoyed an uplifting visit to St Joseph’s Primary School on 25 March 2026, where they were treated to a vibrant performance by 150 pupils from Year 1 through Year 5.

Six residents attended the event, joining children and staff for a celebration of music, performance, and community spirit. The pupils delivered an engaging programme that included singing, dancing, speaking, and the use of a variety of musical instruments, creating a joyful and energetic atmosphere throughout the school.

The visit was particularly meaningful as one of the residents had previously worked at the school, with her two daughters also having been educated there. Returning to a place filled with personal history made the experience especially emotional and significant, highlighting the enduring bonds between the school and the wider community.

The event also formed part of a wider wellbeing initiative, supporting social connection and enriching experiences for care home residents, while giving pupils the opportunity to engage with and perform for members of their local community.

Comment from Nirmala, Lifestyle Coordinator at Greenbanks:

“When the six residents arrived at the school, they probably expected a pleasant visit. What they didn’t expect was to be swept up in something so deeply human. One hundred and fifty children performing—singing, dancing, speaking with all the confidence and innocence only children have—can fill a room with a kind of energy that’s impossible to fake.
