Residents of Crowstone House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently experienced an uplifting day during an organised visit to the Dogs Trust rehoming centre in Basildon, following requests for more opportunities to interact with animals.

The visit provided residents with the chance to get up close to the animals, creating moments of joy and companionship. During the tour, residents met Laura, a long-serving member of the Dogs Trust team, who explained the thorough vetting process undertaken to ensure each dog is placed in a safe and loving home. Her insights offered reassurance and highlighted the charity’s unwavering commitment to animal welfare.

Adding a personal touch to the day, Jane, a relative volunteer at Crowstone House, shared her own adoption story. She spoke warmly about finding her beloved furry companion through the charity and praised the exceptional work carried out by the Trust. Residents also enjoyed viewing touching before-and-after photographs of rescued dogs.

The group captured photographs of the dogs and enthusiastically discussed their favourites. A special highlight of the visit was an invitation to watch a training session, where one of the dogs delighted residents by performing a series of impressive tricks.

Crowstone House looks forward to continuing meaningful trips into the community.
