Residents and staff at Chelmunds Court Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, welcomed nurses, healthcare professionals and members of the local community to a special Nurse Appreciation Day celebration held on 12 May 2026 in recognition of International Nurses Day.
Guests were treated to a beautifully decorated reception area featuring a buffet of cakes, pastries, tea and other treats. As part of the celebrations, thank-you keyrings were also presented to nurses and community members as a token of appreciation for the care and support they provide.
Kera, Lifestyle Coordinator at Chelmunds Court, said:
“We feel it is so important to thank those around us because the work they do helps our residents have the best life possible. After the event, you could really tell how much everyone appreciated being recognised and thanked.”
The home invited local churches, doctors, dentists, healthcare workers and community groups to attend alongside the nursing team within the home, creating a strong sense of togetherness and appreciation across the wider community.
Visitors praised the event for creating a thoughtful and uplifting atmosphere, with many sharing how valued and appreciated the celebration made them feel. One local nurse described the experience as “truly heartwarming” after arriving during a busy day and discovering the event had been organised specifically to thank healthcare workers for their dedication.
The celebration was organised to mark International Nurses Day and recognise the incredible commitment, compassion and hard work shown by nurses and healthcare professionals both within the home and throughout the local community.
