Eastham Care Home Shortlisted for Two National Care Awards

Eastham Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes group, is celebrating after being shortlisted in two categories at this year’s National Care Awards.

Home Manager Karolyn Sisto has been shortlisted for Care Home Manager of the Year, recognising her leadership of the Eastham team. Resident Harry has been shortlisted for the Sara Berrio Care Champion Award, which recognises an individual who has gone above and beyond and made a genuine difference to others.

Harry’s nomination recognises his charitable fundraising, his role as Eastham’s Resident PROSPER Safety Champion and his record-breaking wing walk for a children’s cancer charity.

While the nominations recognise Karolyn and Harry individually, both reflect the support of the wider Eastham community. Both nominations highlight the importance of strong leadership and the difference that support and encouragement can make to residents.

Karolyn said: “When I found out I’d been shortlisted, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride, not just for myself, but for every single person on the Eastham team. This recognition belongs to all of us. I’m so proud of what we’ve built together.”

Harry, resident at Eastham, said: “I was completely overwhelmed when I found out, I was brought to tears. I never thought at my age I’d be shortlisted for something like this. It means more to me than I can put into words, especially knowing I did it all to support others.”

Being shortlisted in two categories at a national level is a wonderful achievement for Eastham, with the nominations reflecting a home built on strong leadership and remarkable individual lives, with residents, staff and volunteers supporting one another to flourish.
