Windmill House Care Home, part of the Runwood Homes Group, recently enjoyed a special outing for one resident. Resident Maisie enjoyed a wonderful one-to-one outing with Steph, Lifestyle Coordinator, after sharing a simple but special wish—to have her nails done at a salon and enjoy a brandy and lemonade at her local pub.
On 28th April 2026, Steph and Maisie took a walk into town to visit a local nail salon, where Maisie had her hands and nails pampered. She chose a beautiful purple colour for spring, making the experience even more special. After the salon visit, they stopped at the local pub, The White Hart, where Maisie enjoyed a well-deserved brandy and lemonade.
The visit brought back happy memories for Maisie, who often talks about the fun and laughter she shared in her younger years at the local pub, especially playing darts and spending time with friends. The outing created a lovely sense of normality, nostalgia, and joy.
Staff and family shared their warm comments following the outing.
One comment read:
“How lovely, always smiling Maisie. So glad you have had a lovely day. A little bit of normality in life, things we take for granted. Thank you, Windmill House, for making this possible.”
Another said:
“Aww, this is so lovely. What a fabulous morning for you two girls, and a cheeky brandy and lemonade. Glad you had a nice time.”
And another added:
“How lovely—thank you for making this possible for Maisie.”
This idea came from Windmill House’s resident wish list, where Maisie shared her wish for a special outing. Granting these personal wishes helps residents stay connected to the things they love most and creates meaningful experiences that bring comfort and happiness.
